Meet the New Chair of Our Board of Directors

June 29, 2018

Welcome Leonard Scott to Our Board of Directors

Inside the Center | Spring 2018

What Leonard Scott could not have known when he accepted an invitation from a good friend to attend a Men’s Breakfast at The Center is that in a few short years, he would be leading The Childhood League Center’s Board of Directors. For years, Leonard volunteered across the street from the old building on S. 18th Street and passed by The Center every week. He never knew what was inside until the morning of that Men’s Breakfast.

“I was really impressed by the work that The Center has done. I wanted to participate from day one,” Leonard recalls. “Watching The Center’s family testimonial video was very powerful. These are our neighbors.”

Leonard is a strategic account leader for Merck & Co., Inc. with over 20 years experience in the healthcare field. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and holds a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Cincinnati. He has experience with transformational leadership, strategic planning and execution, business development and innovation.

Leonard became involved with The Center’s Diversity & Inclusion Task Force and his leadership there quickly brought him to the Board of Directors in 2016 as the Chair of the Advancement Committee. Leonard said he looks forward to infusing his experience in the business world with the mission of The Center, and he is passionate about ensuring we welcome, engage and value different backgrounds and experiences to help shape our strategies moving forward.

Passion + Business Discipline = Success
For Our Children, Their Families and Our Communities

“The need for quality early childhood education in our community continues to outpace the resources available. It is imperative and our responsibility as adults to become part of the solution to help our most vulnerable population – our children – reach their full potential.” He continues, “The Center has been transformational in the community for over 70 years, and I am honored to be part of an organization working along side a dynamic and diverse Board of Directors, League Members, and The Center’s Leadership Team and Staff to continue the momentum for the next 70 years.”
