American Electric Power ranks among the nation’s largest generators of electricity. Its transmission system covers 39 states in eastern and central United States, as well as eastern Canada.
Locally, AEP has established itself as a generous leader in the education of our community’s youngest citizens. With a long history of investing in K-12 education, AEP was among the first corporate sponsors to expand its investment in education to include early childhood.
More than a source of electricity for millions of U.S. residents, AEP is a source of “light and hope” for children with special needs and their families. AEP has donated substantially to support Merry Go Round and has been its Presenting Sponsor for four consecutive years.
In addition, AEP has advanced the learning of The Childhood League Center’s diverse children with funding directed to support such important programs as assistive technology, literacy learning and inclusive practices. The League also benefits from the business expertise of Barbara Radous, AEP’s senior vice-president for commercial operations and a member of our Board of Directors.
AEP received The Childhood League’s Schoedinger Family Service Award in 2009 for its outstanding service to the Center and to the community. Thank you, AEP!
