Our Children & Families

Children & Families

The Childhood League Center’s professional staff and Childhood League members partner with families and the community to ensure the optimal growth and development of more than 100 children with special needs, ages 12 months to 6 years. Total enrollment in the Center-based program is 141 children and includes typically developing peers.

It is our goal to help children reach their full potential as they grow through infancy, toddler-hood and preschool years to successfully transition into kindergarten and first grade.

A significant percentage of our children reach developmental goals that minimize or eliminate their need for ongoing intervention or special support. Many of our graduates and their families keep in touch long past their graduation from the Center, eager to share their achievements.

Profile of the 150 children enrolled in Early Intervention and Preschool programs:

  • 60% present with delays related to medical conditions, such as cerebral palsy, premature birth and Down syndrome
  • 40% present with generalized delays
  • Typical peer models in preschool classrooms
  • An additional 275 children are served through Help Me Grow/At Risk Home Visitation Program

The Center’s Children and Families come from all areas of Franklin County:

  • 60% Medicaid-eligible
  • 35% women single heads of households
  • 31% African American, 58% Caucasian, 3% Biracial, 5% Latino, 1% Indian and 2% African
